CEDO 565 Week 3

This week was a great study week and learning week for me. I enjoyed the cheese article because there are different meanings of cheese and the maze.  However; I had to read the article after watching the video clip. The clip did not make me think outside the box at first.  After thinking more in depth, I thought of a lot of meaning for cheese and the maze.

Another thing I enjoyed this week was the Tune in article. I found myself talking with my mother about it. I laughed at the thought how older teachers look at the younger teachers, simply because I always wondered if they really did that. Being considered a Millenial, I agree that we are more open to the technology than others.  I liked that article a lot.  I wonder how the generation X or baby boomers would respond to it?!?

  1. I too am a Millenial and think we are more open to technology than others. I often find myself getting excited about things that older generations simply don't care about. Prime example; I show my uncle my iPhone and he pulls out his Flip-phone that he has used for 4 years!

Metaphors such as "Who Moved My Cheese" can be helpful in conveying messages, and I too was able to pull my own interpretation of the story. Sometimes I do think that the Millenials have a Who Moved My Cheese moment when technology isn't readily available to them!

  2. While I am not considered a Millenial anymore (tear running down face), I feel that I am still open to and excited by new technology as it pertains to everyday life and especially education. I am a geek, however (haha). As I've gotten older(is 39 old?) and witnessed older teachers retiring and younger teachers being hired I can certainly identify with how the older teachers must feel. The older teachers are now being hit from both sides. Not only do they have to stay in touch with the new initiatives in education, but now they are being expected to learn and implement educational technology into their classrooms as well. As a leader in the area of educational technology I have to consider this gap in knowledge and be sure to structure things in such a way that the older teachers are not overwhelmed.
